We have received the following email from Andrea Leadsom MP:
Dear HS2 Liaison Group Members,
I hope that you and your family are keeping well in these difficult times.
You will be aware that I have ‘virtually’ met with the HS2 Minister during the past several weeks to discuss my continued concerns surrounding the project as well as raise the specific cases of affected constituents. They were constructive meetings, and if you or any South Northamptonshire resident would like me to raise a specific case with the Minister then please let me know.
Separately, the Minister is asking all line of route MPs to contribute to a review into HS2 Land and Property and I am keen to put forward the views of affected constituents and parties.
The review will be looking at:
- community engagement – minimising land taken in the first place, retaining owner occupation wherever possible, supporting businesses and minimising dispute/litigation
- protecting the interests of impacted constituents – reviewing the Compensation Code in the context of land and property acquisition, reviewing DfT non-statutory property compensation schemes
- improved process efficiency – better progress reporting and resolving cases in the agreed timetable
- better communication from HS2 – avoiding legally threatening language and better tone and communication
If you would like to contribute please submit no more than one side of A4 to me by the hard deadline of 8th June.
As ever, if you have any concerns please do not hesitate to contact me.
Best wishes,
Andrea
